Effective date: May 26, 2026 · Version 2.0
This Cookie Policy explains how SEOIndia uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on https://seoindia.co/ (the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. Where the Privacy Policy and this Cookie Policy address the same topic, the Cookie Policy controls for cookie-specific matters and the Privacy Policy controls for everything else.
1. What are cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit, so the site can remember information about you across pages and visits. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called “first-party” cookies. Cookies set by a different domain — for example an analytics or advertising provider embedded into the page — are called “third-party” cookies. Cookies that expire when you close your browser are called “session” cookies, while cookies that persist for a defined period afterwards are called “persistent” cookies.
Alongside cookies, modern sites use several similar technologies. We disclose all of these for completeness even though we use very few of them:
- LocalStorage and sessionStorage. Browser-side key-value stores that hold larger blobs of data than cookies. We use localStorage to remember your cookie consent choice, your cart contents, your last currency selection, and the Aria chat session ID.
- IndexedDB. A larger client-side database. We do not currently use IndexedDB.
- Web beacons / pixel tags. One-pixel images that signal a third-party server when a page or email is opened. We use these only inside marketing emails to measure opens, never on the Site itself without your consent.
- Server logs. Standard request logs containing IP, user-agent, referrer, timestamp. Strictly first-party.
- Fingerprinting. Building a unique device identifier from non-cookie signals like canvas, fonts, or WebGL. We do not use device fingerprinting for advertising or tracking purposes.
2. Categories of cookies we use
We organise cookies into three transparent categories. You control the latter two from our cookie banner or by visiting this page (the same toggles re-appear here). The first category cannot be turned off because the Service cannot function without it.
2.1 Essential cookies (always active)
These are strictly necessary for the Service to work. Disabling them would break login, the shopping cart, the checkout flow, security protections, currency preferences, and CSRF protection.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| wordpress_logged_in_* | SEOIndia (1st party) | Authenticated session for dashboard users | 14 days (or until logout) |
| wp-settings-* | SEOIndia | Remembers admin-UI preferences for logged-in users | 1 year |
| si_currency | SEOIndia | Remembers your last selected currency on pricing/checkout | 30 days |
| si_billing | SEOIndia | Remembers monthly vs yearly billing toggle | 30 days |

| si_2fa_snooze | SEOIndia | “Remind me later” deferral on 2FA enforcement for paid accounts | 7 days |
2.2 Analytics cookies (opt-in)
These help us understand which pages help and which do not. They never identify you personally and we use IP anonymisation. You can opt out at any time by closing the cookie banner with the ✕ button or by unticking “Analytics” inside Customize.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes anonymous users for aggregate analytics | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Maintains session state per stream | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users for 24-hour windows | 24 hours |
2.3 Marketing cookies (opt-in)
Marketing cookies let us measure which of our content reaches and converts new visitors so we can decide where to invest our (limited) marketing budget. They are first-party for our own retargeting needs and third-party where ad platforms set their own pixels. Disabling marketing will not stop you seeing our content elsewhere — it only stops us measuring it.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta (Facebook) | Conversion tracking + ad retargeting | 90 days |
| li_sugr | Ad measurement | 90 days | |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Conversion linker between Google Ads + Analytics | 90 days |
3. How to control cookies
3.1 Our cookie banner
On your first visit the cookie banner appears in the bottom-left corner of the screen. It offers three checkboxes — Essential (always on), Analytics, Marketing. The latter two are pre-ticked. Untick whichever you do not want, then click Save & continue. Closing the banner with the ✕ icon stores an “essential only” preference for you. Your choice persists for 12 months; you can change it any time by clicking the “Cookies” link in the footer.
3.2 Browser settings
Every modern browser lets you block cookies entirely, block third-party cookies, clear stored cookies, or be warned before a cookie is set. Note that disabling all cookies typically breaks login on most websites including ours. Browser-level instructions: Chrome · Firefox · Safari · Edge.
3.3 Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control header we treat it as a do-not-sell-or-share signal under the CCPA / CPRA. Analytics and marketing cookies will not be set even if you have not interacted with the banner.
3.4 Do-Not-Track (DNT)
DNT is older than GPC and inconsistently honoured across the web. For visitors from California, the EU and the UK we honour DNT the same way as GPC. Other regions: we ignore DNT and rely on the explicit banner choice.
4. Cross-border data transfers from cookies
Some third-party analytics and marketing providers process cookie-derived data outside your home jurisdiction (typically the United States). Where this triggers GDPR or UK-GDPR cross-border transfer rules we rely on the Standard Contractual Clauses (2021) and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. See the Privacy Policy for full details on international transfers.
5. Updates to this policy
We may revise this Cookie Policy when we add or remove a third-party tracker, or when applicable law changes. Material changes are notified by email and via a banner on the Site. The Effective date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
